Dr. Jerry Woodring, DVM
 |
Dr. Jerry Woodring was raised on a cattle ranch in Montana; at the
age of 14 he moved to Washington State where his family operated a
dairy farm and participated in Thoroughbred horse racing. A move to
California allowed him to attend Modesto Junior College for two
years and participate in rodeos and continue his riding Thoroughbred
horses.
He received his Bachelor of Science and DVM degree from the
University of California – Davis. He moved to Yucca Valley in 1971
as an associate veterinarian at Northridge Veterinary Hospital and
purchased the practice in 1973. In 2006, Dr. Woodring sold his
practice and in 2008 he joined the veterinary team at High Desert
Animal Hospital.
Dr. Woodring has a special interest in small animal internal
medicine and surgery as well as laser surgery and ultrasound
diagnostics.
He and his wife Karen have 2 children, Jennifer and Justin and 5
grandchildren. When not working, Dr. Woodring can be found riding
the high desert with the Search and Rescue team of the San
Bernardino County Sheriff’s department or relaxing with family and
friends on his ranch in Montana.

Dr. Todd Taylor, DVM
 |
Dr. Todd Taylor grew up on a farm in Kentucky and entered the Army
after graduating from high school. Upon completion of his military
duty, Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors,
from Morehead State University and his DVM degree from Auburn
University in 1997.
Prior to joining the staff of High Desert Animal Hospital in August
of 2008, he was associated with a Dairy practice and small animal
general practices in California and New Mexico.
Dr. Taylor has a special interest in small animal soft-tissue
surgery and orthopedics.
His hobbies include riding his motorcycle, staying fit on his
mountain bike and traveling.

Dr. Lisa Miller, DVM
 |
Dr. Lisa Miller graduated from the Louisiana State University School
of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. After graduation she joined her
father, Dr. James Laird in his mixed animal practice located in
Northeastern Arkansas. In 2004, Dr. Miller left Arkansas to join Dr.
Jerauld Woodring at Northridge Veterinary Hospital in Yucca Valley.
Her primary focus is in general medicine and surgery for dogs and
cats.
Dr. Miller and her husband Robbie have two daughters and one
granddaughter. Her spare time is spent riding the high desert trails
on her beloved mule Bessie, training her Border Collies, cross
stitching and searching for good restaurants.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association.

Dr. Bethan Smith, DVM
 |
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Bethan Smith grew up spending
time with dogs, cats and various small fuzzy animals.
Dr. Smith obtained her Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Microbiology and earned her DVM in 2005 from the University of
Wisconsin. During her tenure in veterinary school, she completed
various externships in the US and Canary Islands.
Dr. Smith has a special interest in working with exotics (reptiles,
birds and small mammals). Following her graduation, Dr. Smith worked
for a year in Chicago for an exotic/emergency practice. Prior to
joining High Desert Animal Hospital in 2007, Dr. Smith was
associated with a small animal general practice in Palm Springs, CA.
She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the
American Veterinary Medical Association.
On a more personal level, Dr. Smith shares her home with three dogs,
Lenny, Tina and Ozzy. She and her fiancé, Eric, enjoy spending time
outdoors and their future plans include a fall wedding.

Christy Lowe
 |
As the daughter of a veterinarian, Christy Lowe literally grew up in
the field of veterinary medicine. At the age of 14, she began
working for her father, Dr. Edwin Lowe, as a kennel assistant at
High Desert Animal Hospital. She attended college at Brigham Young
University for 2 years then accepted a position with the Animal
Hospital in Ogden, UT where she was on staff for 7 years including 3
½ years as Practice Manager.
In 2001, Christy returned to Yucca Valley as Practice Manager for
High Desert Animal Hospital. Her success as a manager is due in
part, to her knowledge of veterinary medicine, best business
practices, and a desire to support and motivate her team to the
highest standard of excellence.
She has owned and loved Pembroke Welsh Corgis for many years. She
shares her home with Alyx, a 12 year old female, Wesley, a 2-year
old male and baby Brie, who is 1 ½. A special interest in canine
behavior has led Christy to begin agility training with Brie.
When not working she loves to travel, read and spend time with her
family.
